The two prime ministers stand in the debating chamber and nearby is a poster reading 'Quickie asset sales under $477m'. Context - On her first official visit as prime minister, Julia Gillard has called for a "new generation" of closer economic relations. But the investment protocol has drawn opposition, including from Labour, which says it will open the door to Australia buying more New Zealand assets. The protocol lifts the threshold before Australian investment draws Overseas Investment Office scrutiny from $100m to $477m. The threshold for New Zealand investment across the Tasman has also been lifted, to about $1 billion. (Dompost 16 February 2011) Quantity: 1 digital cartoon(s).
