Description: Shows four sailors lounging under a tree and feeding ducks by the Avon River. One of them is asking what people in Christchurch do to occupy themselves. In the background a couple is walking past with ten children and a pram. Refers to the American sailors who stopped in Sydney instead of Christchurch because it was considered `too dull'. Exhibited in 'The Other Side of the Ditch' exhibition of cartoons on the New Zealand-Australian relationship curated by Ian F. Grant of the New Zealand Cartoon Archive and exhibited in the National Library Gallery from 28 November 2001 to 24 February 2002 to mark the centenary of Australian Federation. Also exhibited at X Space Gallery, Auckland University of Technology, Auckland in mid-March 2002 and at Old Parliament House, Canberra, Australia from 26 March 2003 to 29 June 2003. Published in 'The Other Side of the Ditch' by Ian F. Grant, published by the New Zealand Cartoon Archive in association with Tandem Press, 2001. Quantity: 1 original cartoon(s).
