Description: Photograph album of Girl Guide camping trips and other activities in the Wellington Region, December 1931 to 1935. Compiled by Ida Christina Downard, who is possibly the photographer. Includes annotations identifying locations and dates as well as some notes identifying people and historical context. Annotations in black pen were made at time of compilation while annotations in blue were possibly made at a later date. Camps include a Ranger camp at an Akatarawa site (December 1931 to January 1932), the Easter Ranger camp at Lowry Bay (1932), and two larger camps at Trentham (December 1932 to January 1933, 1934). Photographs show camp sites (including tents), Trentham Racecourse buildings, activities (including a garden party, guides setting off for a picnic, a prayer circle, and a human birthday cake performed by Brownies), and a variety of informal group and individual portraits of unidentified guides. One series of group portraits show St Paul's Mangaroa guides with the Lady Bledisloe Cup. Lady Olave Baden-Powell, her husband, and their two daughters are photographed during a visit to Trentham. Other events include a "stocking trail" with cars on Kelburn Viaduct and District Sports competition at [Wellington?] Botanic Gardens. One photomechanical print shows crowds on wharf farewelling Lord Bledisloe in 1935, with Girl Guide Rangers in the right of the image [from newspaper?]. Inscriptions: Album page - top left - I.
