Includes views of the construction on a timber dam (probably in Coromandel), Coromandel Public Hospital, Kennedy Bay (Coromandel), a stream crossing between Opitonui and Coromandel, bush camps in the Coromadel district and a traffic bridge in Rodney County. Daniel P Parker is recorded in the Wise's Post Office directories as an engineer in Coromandel from 1902 to 1930. Between 1906 and 1911 he is also recorded as a photographer. Description: Photographs of a range of industries in New Zealand, possibly related to the Christchurch International Exhibition in 1906-1907. Industries include animal related products including wool, from fellmongery to transportation and finally weaving; meat works, including the slaughter house, the mutton cooling room, shipping fozen mutton, the beef cooling room; butter, at the Hautapu Butter Factory, showing butter in the factory, and delivering butter at Ngaruawahia Railway Station; the Waikato Bacon Factory, and pig carcases. Other industries include flax, with scenes showing a flax mill, carting flax to the mill, stripping, washing and drying flax, and also grading hemp and loading bales of it at Auckland wharves; kauri timber industry, from felling the trees, hauling logs by bullock, floating logs over the Wairoa Falls, sorting timber at the mill booms, timber mill on the Wairoa River, and a million feet of sawn timber at the mill. The latter part of the album shows scenes of gold dredging on the Buller Gorge, hydraulic gold-mining at Ross, Westland; coal mining at Brunner; kauri gum diggers and a warehouse storing kauri gum; and finally views of the Sugar Refinery in Auckland, and a warehouse filled with sacks of sugar. Public opinion on Tuku Morgan's behaviour. Maori bashing continues over Tuku Morgan, as Maori hit themselves and ask why he just doesn't resign. Maori occupy land in Waiouru during winter as temperatures hit a low. They are protesting against the wild horse mustering? Winston Peter's accepts Tuku Morgan's apology and assumes the moral high ground. International study shows kiwi kids poor at maths but good at bullying. Bob Jones suggests that the Beehive be dynamited. A look at genetic makeup in terms of race. Comment on teacher inaction over bullying in school play grounds. Description: Photographs of deer carcasses being processed for export at Consolidated Traders Ltd's works at Rongatea and Rotorua. Also featured are carcasses of wild pigs awaiting processing and frozen goat carcasses bagged and ready for export. Several photographs show bales of deer pelts packed and covered with hessian. Deer photographed on Rex Giles' farm, Forest Park, at Maroa north of Taupo. Most of these photographs were in albums of plastic sleaves and were probably used as promotional material for the company. The prints were removed from the albums as the type of plastic bonds with the emusion of the print. Quantity: 54 b&w original photographic print(s).
