Includes pamphlets or fliers for Walter Nash (1951, 1954 and 1957), John B Mora (St Albans, 1951), Michael Moohan (Petone, 1951), Ernie Langford (Otaki, 1956), Jim Edwards (Napier, 1957), Joe Cotterill (Wanganui, 1957), Jim Bateman (Karori, 1954). Also includes a pink pamphlet for the Greymouth local body elections in 1950. Includes a typescript copy (1959) of Walter Nash's final election address broadcast 29 November 1957. Quantity: 3 folder(s) containing approximatedly 27 fliers and pamphlets. Physical Description: Offset prints on fliers and pamphlet, sizes varying up to 330 mm. Provenance: One item donated by Mrs Alexia Pickering, Wellington, in 2012; one by Bill Sheat, Wellington, in 2015.

Description: The cartoon shows Prime Minister Sid Holland onstage as Hamlet; around his feet are bags of money and two poor penniless men stand on either side of him under cardboard trees. Text reads 'All worldly wealth's my stage, and all the men and women merely payers - They have their debts in their finances, And one man in his time pays many departments. This tax being on his wages!' Context - The PAYE (pay as you earn) taxation system was introduced just before the 1957 elections. Both parties were able to promise tax breaks.
