Description: Looking along Oriental Parade, Oriental Bay, Wellington, circa 1884. Photographer unidentified. Looks along a road, showing the coastline on the left and hills on the right. A group of two storied wooden houses is in the centre. James Edward Fitzgerald's house Clyde Cliff is on top of a hill, right of centre, on a site later occupied by St Gerard's Monastery. Source of descriptive information - The inscription signed G F G was possibly written by Geraldine Fitzgerald shortly before her death in 1955. Other Titles - Note - Inscription mis-spells Gerard's Inscriptions: Mount recto - beneath image - The Wellington home of J E Fitzgerald, about 1884. This site is now occupied by St Gerrard's monastery.; Mount verso - Clyde Cliff in 1884 or earlier. The cliff was cut down for reclamation about'85 or'86. G F G Quantity: 1 b&w original negative(s).
