Description: Shows views in the Hutt Valley, Wellington and Wairarapa. At the top, a view looking west along Palliser Bayl, with Hokorewa Pa visible on the flat land near the coast in the distance, at the mouth of the Ruamahanga River. In the centre a view from the hills above Brooklyn and Ohiro Valley, looking west towards the harbour entrance. A few sheep are grazing in the foreground. Mount Victoria, Evans Bay and Lyall Bay can be seen. At the bottom, the house of William Swainson, with other buildings around it and trees on both sides. Three cows grazing in the foreground. Description: Family photographs of the William Hughes Field family, their home in Everton Terrace, Wellington, with views of Wellington and the harbour taken from various streets nearby. One group of images taken from Kelburn Park in February 1897 show the ship (with an escorting flotilla) in which Lord Glasgow was leaving New Zealand after his term as Governor of New Zealand. A few images show scenes in Christchurch. The yacht `Sunbeam' (privately owned by Lord Brassey) is shown in Wellington Harbour in a number of views. Several photographs shows areas on the outskirts of Wellington. Views fom Pukerua of the hills to the north and Kapiti Island; Otaihanga (with one of a Maori family at their home); Upper Hutt, showing Mr and Mrs Sarjeant's backyard, Mr and Mrs Barber's orchard, and two views of a farm owned by Mr [Martin?]; the coast at Island Bay, and fishermen and their huts at Island Bay. Description: A shed-like house made of upright wooden slats, with an open door and two small windows at the near end. Outside the front door are two pigs. There is bush behind the house.
