Description: Shows an interior of a Maori meeting house with carved pillars. A jazz band is playing in the left far corner. In the doorway stands a man whose clothes are lit up by the light from the hall. A photograph of a woodcut held at E-915-q-016. The image is photographed in E-918-q, 70/201a. Description: Shows Mount Ruapehu in the left distance. Two horses graze in the right foreground, near a cabbage tree, and two figures stand together a little further off, towards a homestead and outbuildings in the middle distance. There is a group of cattle in the left middle distance. The other works in the group include one dated 1892 and one dated 1893, and it is assumed that all date from the late 1880s and early 1890s. Inscriptions: Recto - bottom left - T.G. [and title]; Verso - centre - Ruapehu / about 50 miles from Oeo Quantity: 1 watercolour(s). Physical Description: Ink and wash, on sheet 137 x 224 mm. Provenance: Previously sold at Christie's South Kensington, 25 May 1989, lot no. 176. The garden comprises swathes of lawn surrounded by shrubs and trees, with a seat in the centre and possibly a small bower at the end of the lawned area at the left. The other works in the group include one dated 1892 and one dated 1893, and it is assumed that all date from the late 1880s and early 1890s. Inscriptions: Recto - bottom right - T.G.
