Description: Photograph album created by Neville H Mosen of Raetithi. Contains views related to trips taken by the Tongariro Tramping Club and views related to the Mosen family and friends. Taken by Neville Mosen circa 1936 to 1937, and possibly some taken by other unidentified photographer(s). Contains scenic views and views of the Club members on bush walks and skiing in Tongariro National Park, featuring Ruapehu, Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and surrounding environs, the Pinnacles at Blue Bluffs, Ruapehu crater lake, Tama Lakes, The Chateau, Whakapapa glacier, Karioi Lakes, Mangawhero River and various tramping huts. Bruce Davis, an amateur photographer who lived in Raetihi is identified. Also includes views of Raetihi township and Horopito locality, Napier, Tauranga (rail bridge and The Strand), and Ngauruhoe erupting (possibly 1937 eruption). Also includes views of Tom Parker posing with the fountain he gifted to Napier in 1936 and scenes of a parade and bonfire in Raetihi to mark the coronation of King George VI in 1937. Description: Album created by Captain C Hellier Evans (Charles Hellier David Evans), commander of A Squadron, 9th (Wellington East Coast) Mounted Rifles, in the Gisborne area. Numbers of group portraits of officers and non-commissioned officers give surnames with rank, and occasionally initials as well. The album opens with several views of Major General Godley inspecting troops, and then presenting medals to individual soldiers. Several photographs on page 7 show Gisborne celebrations in connection with the coronation of George V, June 1911. Description: Album of photographs, most of which were probably taken by George William Barltrop, between about 1899 and 1903. They include scenes in the South Island in the Otago area, around Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown, the Arrow River, Shotover River, Lake Hayes and the Remarkables. One sequence shows the barque `Gladys' at Queen's Wharf (?), Wellington, probably in February 1903, with major damage to masts and sails, and a group portrait of sailors, presumably from the `Gladys'. One group portrait shows Frederick Augustus Bennett (later Bishop), with another Maori clergyman, and two European clergymen; a second image shows three different Maori clergymen. Several photographs show scenes of public interest, including a peace demonstration, celebrations for the coronation of King Edward VII in 1902; a group of soldiers marching along Vivian Street, before leaving for the South African War in 1899; and two views of a major landslide in the manawatu Gorge in which a large group of men and women (passengers from a train), had to leave the train and walk across the slip, while workmen helped carry their belongings.
