Route begins at Hokianga Harbour from the Waima River, along native path, through the Kaikohe pa site and mission station, along cart road through Waimate, past Kawiti's first pa site, along Cowa Cowa [Kawa Kawa] River, to the position of camp at Wai-o-meo 24 December 1845.
