Description: Drawn on a published map, the annotations depict river discharge limits into the sea and seasonal limits of sport fishing areas. A handwritten reference key denotes river and smooth water limits of river mouths, major harbours and straits in blue. The red shaded area denotes extended and partially smooth limits of outer harbours, part of the Hauraki Gulf, Firth of Thames, the top of the Coromandel peninsula and around Great Barrier Island. Two semicircles outlined in green are not included in the reference key but probably denote extreme limits. One extends from Sail Rock around the Mercury and Alderman Islands to a point south of the Tairua River, while the second extends from a point south of Bream Tail around Little Barrier Island to the vicinity of Motuora Island. Green lines, drawn from Bream Tail eastwards and northwards, extend to the latitude of Wide Berth Island which denote an area of seasonal sports fishing, including dates. Description: Photographs taken by Albert Percy Godber between 1915 and 1916. Many of the images show various aspects of logging in Piha and Karekare. Views include the Piha Tramway, bush railway inclines, scenes of lumbermen cutting down kauri trees and cross-cutting felled trees, transportation of logs by bullock teams and horse-drawn rail wagons, the Piha timber camp and mill and men at everyday activities in camp buildings and in their workmen's huts. Other sections of the album show views of Petone, and Godber's family (his wife, Laura Godber, and two children, Phyllis and William (Bill)); views of the central North Island; farming in the Mendip Hills (Canterbury); and views of Trentham. Description: Reproduction of a watercolour by Charles Heaphy, produced for `Encounter with Eden', an exhibition of paintings and drawings from the Rex Nan Kivell Collection, National Library of Australia. One of a set of six greeting cards produced by the National Library of New Zealand featuring works of art from the exhibition. Very similar to a watercolour in the Alexander Turnbull Library called `Bream Head, Whangarei'. However Bream Head is some distance to the right and this is Manaia. The schooner may be imaginery, as Heaphy was fond of adding touches of human interest. Several Maori waka can be seen near the shore. Quantity: 1 colour photo-mechanical print(s). Description: Drawn on a published map, the annotations depict extended river and partially smooth water limits across the Bay of Islands, from Rangihoua (Wairoa) Bay, Black Rocks, Motu Arohia, Motukiakia, Oruapukapuka Islands to Richards Peninsular. Corrections to these limits and two placenames have been made, (Motukiekie Island has been corrected to Motikiakia Island). The Pier at Waimangaroa Point, Kororarika Bay and Cape Brett have been higlighted in yellow pen. Further annotations at the entrance to the Bay from Cape Brett to Galakek Island at Cape Wiwiki have been corrected, dated 1948 (all corrections have been made in red pencil). Base map: 'N.Z.
