Description: Views of the Otago Region taken by unidentified photographers, circa 1870s to 1895. Many show buildings in Dunedin, including one house `Lisburn House' built for the Fulton family in 1865; also commercial buildings, church buildings, school buildings (Otago Boys' High School), and Dunedin Gaol. The church buildings include the Chapel in Leith Street, the Chapel in Great King Street, and the Baptist Chapel. Description: Shows Bill Birch, Minister of National Development and Prime Minister Rob Muldoon on a tractor that represents the 'Clutha High Dam'. It is being pushed by a much larger tractor representing 'legislation'. The Clutha dam was a key policy plank in National's "Think big" strategy.When the High Court refused the scheme a water right the government promptly wheeled up special legislation. Description: Album of photographs relating to the Rivers and Leach families. Many of the people and scenes are unidentified. They include various houses and a large number of farming scenes with Southdown sheep, hay barns, harvesting linseed, ploughing, and logging in a plantation of pine trees. Some photographs of a rural bungalow house are captioned with dates between 1940 and 1942 and 'Glen Grove'. All the places which are identified are in the South Island, so it seems likely that the two homes that are named are in the Canterbury or Otago areas. One group portrait shows members of the Scargill Voluntary Aid Division A number of scenes show an Austin Sheerline car, a make which was introduced in 1947 and continued to be produced until 1954. Description: Photographs of Graham and Elsie Massingham at various localities in New Zealand. Graham Massingham and his wife came out from England in the late 1920s. The 1928 Wises Post Office Directory describes Massingham as a company manager and lists him as living in Dunedin at 34 Dundonald street, Andersons Bay. Later in the 1930s he lived at 75a Grant Road, Wellington. He died on 20 November 1947. Quantity: 33 b&w original photographic print(s).

Description: Album recording a motoring and camping holiday through the South Island of New Zealand. This took in the New Zealand South Seas Exhibition in Dunedin and included the West Coast, Otago, and Canterbury. The central part of the album has images of Khandallah, Wellington, and the family home in that suburb. Family photographs include Doug on his Norton Motorcycle, and Jack and Neville similarly posed on a Douglas Motorcycle. Rene and Frank stand at the net holding tennis rackets, and mother has several images with young Joyce. The last part of the album recordes something of a holiday to Auckland where the family camped at Brown's Bay and took a trip to Kawau Island. A group shot on Mt Messanger on the way back and some views of Pukekura Park New Plymouth complete the album Quantity: 1 b&w original photographic print(s).

Description: Album of photographs taken by unidentified photographers, taken in central North Island, and Otago and Southland regions, circa 1900s and 1910s. Some of the images are related to railways, including North Island scenes of the first passenger trip on 14th February 1909, during which the train stopped on the Raurimu Spiral because of a lack of engine power to haul it; the railway station at Longburn; a locomotive owned by the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company; various engines including one image showing a J Class locomotive and an A Class locomotive with the caption "Note the difference in 20 years". South Island trains are shown in the Catlins District, including the construction of the Catlins River Railway, the Houipapa Quarry on the Catlins River Extension, loading wagons in the Balclutha ballast pit, the viaduct across the Catlins River at Houipapa, the Clutha Railway Bridge, and the Houipapa terminus on the Catlins River Railway. The North Island scenic views include the areas around Lake Rotorua, the Government Sanatorium at Rotorua, Sophia's Whare, a group of Maori boys diving for pennies, Whakarewarewa, Okere and Ohakune. Scenic views in the South Island are mostly around Dunedin (including Telford's country house in the Balclutha District), Clutha River, Balclutha, and the Catlins, including flax swamps and flax mills in the Catlins District.
