Description: Photographs of the Wellington region, and family snapshots. Many of the images give information about camera speed and light, and time of day taken. Not all the people are identified, with one family dominating the portraits, members of the Spackman family, living in Rintoul Street, Newtown in the 1890s. Herbert Spackman is shown with his wife (Daisy Spackman), and daughter (Sylvia?), and can also be seen at work in the New Zealand Government Life Insurance offices. There is one group portrait of staff members of the office. Another link to the family is seen in photographs of St Thomas' Church in Newtown, both exterior views while undergoing additions, and interior views; and one image of choir members at St Thomas'. There are also interior and exterior views of St Paul's Pro-Cathedral (now known as Old St Paul's) Other images include views of Wellington bays, interior and exterior views of Horace William Lloyd's premises (watchmaker, jeweller and optician) in Lambton Quay, the Newtown tennis court opening, the home of Josephus Hargreaves Richardson (chief commissioner of the Government Life Insurance), interior views of a house with a baby lying asleep in a cot, and Marshall's houses in Worser Bay, alongside J. Marshall's Pilot Store (General Store & Refreshment Rooms). Description: Shows a view of the bay and the house and family of Alfred Cooke Yarborough. In the foreground are his children Bryan and Gerty Cooke Yarborough and a woman who is probably his wife Mary (nee Ferguson). Bryan (born 1877) is seated on the grass at the left and wears a sailor's suit, and Gerty standing at the right wears a blue dress, white bonnet and knickerbockers. The woman wears a brown dress and hat both with red trim. The house is amongst trees in the left middle distance, and the harbour and hills are beyond. Other Titles - Bryan Extended Title - From Gertrude Flora Yarborough's scrapbook of watercolours ... 1878 and after, page 40 The children appear to be aged about 2-3 (Bryan, born 1877) and 4-5 (Gerty, born 1876).
