Description: Album of photographs, probably taken by George William Barltrop, chiefly taken on a tour around the South Island. The first images relate to an area around Wellington, including Waiwhetu and Wainuiomata, including scenes of the Wainuiomata Reservoir. Two photographs taken in a park show three women wearing hats, full-length outfits, and carrying umbrellas, the "McNabs". One photograph shows a group of men and women, members of a camera club. The tour aound the South Island travels from Sheffield, down to the Otira Gorge, up to Lake Brunner and Inangahua, past Murchison, through Longford. In Wellington Harbour the steamship Ophir is sailing out, with people standing on the wharf in the foreground. Also in Wellington, is a large group portrait of men associated with the Missions to Seamen, gathered together on Labour Day 1901. Five photographs are taken around Otaki, one a pastoral scene, and two of three young Maori people (a young woman and a young girl in two scenes, with a second young girl in the third scene); a water mill; and a group of four people having a picnic in a field (two women (one obscured) and a young boy on the left, and a man with a bandaged hand on the right). The last few scenes are again of the South Island, at Temuka, Otago Harbour, Dunedin (including the Octagon), and a tram belonging to the Roslyn Tramway Company with a group of men on the front cab, and three standing in front. Description: Photographs of and relating to the Wilson family ex Eketahuna. William M Wilson was born in Glasgow in 1868, coming to New Zealand when 8 years of age. He was apprenticed to John Fitchett, coach builder in Wellington, then with other firms including Rouse & Hurrell. He was employed by Wilfred Woolf in Eketahuna in 1894, and subsequently bought his business, and entered the firm of Kibblewhite and Wilson. Description: Photographs, chiefly of the Wellington area, probably taken by Frank J Denton. A number show the house `Fernhill' in Woolcombe Street (now part of The Terrace), Wellington, views from the house and its gardens. Portraits in clude Laurie Denton, Tom Tolley (locksmith), Alfred Bennett and his family, Mrs Denton Snr, Mrs Waters (had a grocery shop in Dixon Street), G L Adkin (as a boy), Miss Dixon (of the aerated water family, the Dixons of Dixon Street), George Butler (artist), and Beaglehole (David Ernest Beaglehole, father of Professor Ernest Beaglehole, and Professor John Cawte Beaglehole). Also includes photograph of a portrait painted by George Edmund Butler of his father Joseph Cawte Butler (maternal grandfather of John Cawte Beaglehole). Description: Photographs of trips taken in the countryside, of bridges, rivers, streams, waterfalls, native forest, mountains, coastal scenery and other scenic views. There are pictures of cars and one of a motorcycle with side car. There are prints of two fly fishermen displaying their catch in a net and of a man holding up a large eel. Others show yachts in sail, and men and boys in yachts; adult fun sports at a group outing identified in PAColl-6712-2 as being the "optic championships". Another group are shown playing cricket in the grounds of Days Bay House. There is also a single print of a hunter showing his bag of wild game birds. Animals are represented by cattle and horses, one of the latter associated with two men and a wagon-full of freshly harvested hay, another is harnessed to a coach parked beside a stationary train. A sequence of prints records the dams and lakes of the newly completed Mangahao Hydro in the hills inland from Shannon. Three prints show a ship grounded in coastal shallows. There are portrait and group photographs of people, including children, and one print of a children's party. Several show picnic groups.

Description: Album of photographs and newspaper cuttings relating to the Seddon family. Inserted at the front is an envelope full of newspaper cuttings, several relating to the marriage of Phoebe Seddon to Frank Dyer in January 1897, (with a photograph possibly of Phoebe); others relate to official activities undertaken by Richard John Seddon. In that envelope there are two other items of interest. One is an official Christmas card "With the Premier's compliments, wishing Miss Louie J S Seddon a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Wellington, New Zealand, December 1894" signed R J Seddon; and the other is an "Invitation to a presentation and social to the Hon. R J Seddon, Premier of New Zealand on his 51st birthday, June 22nd 1896" Many of the people shown in the photographs in the album are unidentified. There are several which appear to show members of Seddon's family, and which show his first home in Kumara, West Coast. Others relate to Seddon's supporters at Jacksons.
