They are Frederick and Eleanore Olsen writing from his `establishment the Welllington Coffee House Lambton Quay' to his brother and sister, Mr and Miss Chapell, and friends; Elmett H and Edward Olsen of Wellington and Lyttelton writing to their uncle and aunt; a daughter writing to her mother from Lyttelton; and Edward Olsen, New Plymouth, writing to his cousin. The correspondents write of their family situations, their experiences following immigration, the costs of living and difficulties of finding work, Wellington's terrain and frequent earthquakes, and their changing family circumstances.
