Description: Photographs taken between 1925 and 1927 depicting the ashphalting of roads in the Wellington region. Includes photographs taken for the Wellington City Council by Frank Giles Barker. Inserted in a pocket inside the back cover there are three loose photographs showing the Hutt Road alongside Wellington Harbour. Photographs of the Hutt Road include those alongside the harbour, and also some of the "Main Hutt Road" in Lower and Upper Hutt. Most of the photographs have good captions, with the title at the head of each one which reads "Asphaltic concrete pavement". Other - Some of the original negatives, from which these photographs were printed, are amongst the Wellington City Council collection at PAColl-5448.
