Description: Shows a plan of the building on a triangular block of land. Includes offices for principal, clerk and salesman, a bonded store, and a yard. According to the donor (see AT 13/14/1, 19 November 1999), this building was built for Messrs Edwards & Company, and opened in August 1864. It was built on rubble from the Boulder Bank in Nelson Harbour and at that time was the largest building in Nelson. Part of the building now houses a radio station (Nov 1999). 1860s cadastral map shows this triangle of land as belonging to the trustees of the Wesleyan Church. Quantity: 1 plan(s). Description: Views of New Zealand, interspersed with views of Australia and Denmark. The New Zealand images are chiefly of the Nelson and Tasman regions, including the Maitai River, central Nelson, and a military camp at Richmond in 1877. There are a large number of views of various parts of Victoria, Australia, and several of dwellings and churches in Denmark. In a pocket at the front of the album are three images, one of St Martin's Church (Canterbury, England), and two of Winchester Cathedral. There are several images of Claverley House, with no indication as to its whereabouts. Photographs taken by professional photographer Theodor Bloch, who worked in Nelson circa 1863 to 1888, before working in various parts of Australia. Quantity: 1 album(s) Album(s). Description: Album chiefly containing views of the Nelson Region, including ships in the harbour, Boulder Bank, a hotel in Moutere, a partially built steamship being transported to sea, and a Thanksgiving service by the Bishop of Nelson for safe arrival. Other areas covered include two images of Wellington, one of Sale (Victoria, Australia), several of Switzerland and of Odense in Denmark (taken when the photographer travelled back to Denmark in 1873). Description: View from above Saltwater Creek. The low hill with buildings on the right is Church Hill, with the fortifications around the emigration barracks (pre-fabricated) where Nelson Cathedral now stands. Just below the hill, in Nile Street, is the Bishop's School (still standing). Trafalgar Street, the main street, runs down from Church Hill to the left, through the buildings that line it. The flat gap near the hill is where Hardy Street now runs across Trafalgar Street; the next, one block further left, is now Bridge Street. In the far left centre are the watermill and the brewery, the first in New Zealand, exporting beer to Wellington and Auckland. Two male travellers, one with a swag, are in the foreground. A woman is pursuing three cows in right foreground. A watercolour version of this drawing, titled Nelson dated 27 October 1845, is held in a private collection: negative 23060 1/2.
