The reporter states he was told not provide media coverage of Goff by members of the National Party. Refers to research by a Massey University professor that four of the country's top newspapers were biased in their coverage of the 2011 election. The study revealed that all four papers exhibited substantial bias in their selection and use of images during the election campaign, most of it in favour of Key and the National Party. Parata was forced to back down. Prime Minister John Key came to the rescue with assurances that no school would lose more than two teachers but had to admit National had no idea how this would impact on the $43 million a year savings that were to be diverted to improving teaching "quality". Context: Police released files from their investigation into two $25,000 donations from German multi-millionaire Kim Dotcom and a $15,000 donation from SkyCity towards Banks 2010 Auckland mayoralty campaign, which were all registered as anonymous. Statements from Dotcom show Banks told him: "I want to help you Kim and I can help you more effectively if no-one knows about this donation." They also show Banks twice confirmed he received the donation (Stuff 13 September 2012). Bennett has introduced a bill to change welfare rules so job seekers can be penalised if they fail drug tests and have outstanding arrest warrants (TV3 17 September 2012).
