Description: Album recording a motoring and camping holiday through the South Island of New Zealand. This took in the New Zealand South Seas Exhibition in Dunedin and included the West Coast, Otago, and Canterbury. The central part of the album has images of Khandallah, Wellington, and the family home in that suburb. Family photographs include Doug on his Norton Motorcycle, and Jack and Neville similarly posed on a Douglas Motorcycle. Rene and Frank stand at the net holding tennis rackets, and mother has several images with young Joyce. The last part of the album recordes something of a holiday to Auckland where the family camped at Brown's Bay and took a trip to Kawau Island. Description: Album of photographs taken in the Otago and Southland Regions, by unidentified photographers. All the locations are well identified. Some of the images are related to railways, including railway tunnels (e.g. The Caversham Tunnel when under construction circa 1909), and the Hunts Road Tunnel; the Clutha Railway Bridge; the Wingatui Signal Box; the Balclutha Railway Station, railway yards, and sales-yards; railway barns; D-class engine (New Zealand Railways steam-engine No. 355); the Owaka Express; and bush tramway tracks, one sawmill typical of small mills in the Catlins area. Many of the images are taken with an emphasis on atmosphere, including sunsets, stormy days on the coast near Dunedin, evening at Ocean Beach, storm clouds at Lawyer's Head, and "By beach and sand-hill". Description: Volume one of 'The 9.5 am' Feb 1902 to Jan 1903. Contains whimsical articles about political and 'colonial' life. Includes jokes, poems, extracts, and illustrations. In an inscription on the inside cover of this volume, Johannes Andersen describes himself as "Editor, article writer, anecdotist, P.D. et hoc gen an". Includes images of people, buildings and landscapes in the Canterbury, Otago and Southland Regions including: - The Canterbury Provincial Council Buildings captioned as "Offices of the 9.5 am". - Pigeon Bay, Banks Peninsula. - Several photographs of F M B Fisher who "left with the 19th contingent April 19, 1902" and a poem about Fisher leaving for the South African War, 1899-1902 (aka Boer War) titled 'A Farewell'. Also an image of "The Tenth Contingent passing City Council Chambers". Pages 81-83 and 95-98 of this volume features 'Tramps Abroad' written by Fisher, relating to his experiences of the South African War. - The 'Onawe', 'Fleet Wing', and 'Zephyr' yachts. Captioned as "At Lyttelton Regatta Day" (located between p35 and 36). - "The editor and his assistants. Description: Photographs of the South Island of New Zealand taken by Les Cleveland, 1956 to 1958. Information relating to the content as well as the date taken and the date printed, is on the rear of most prints. Most prints relate to the West Coast Region, but also some images of Nelson, Canterbury, and Otago regions. Identified people are: Kopara Sawmill workers Bill Brown, Owen Jacobs, Morry Pullman, Hans Van Ruyven, Jimmy Birchfield, Doug Macalister, Joe Kavanagh, Neil McLean, Archy Fluerty, saw doctor John Henry Ord, Ted McGhie; licensee of Nelson Creek Hotel D Graham; Dorothy Debenham; Mick Bowie, and chief guide at Mt Cook Hermitage. Unidentified people include a female French tourist and some children. Featured natural environments include Karamea beach scenes, mining and sawmilling sites, and Buller Gorge. Featured town sequences include Reefton and Nelson's Creek houses and businesses, many of which are derelict. Denniston, Christchurch, and Australia

Description: Album opens with two images of Denniston buildings all of which are houses except for a church. There are some views of the surrounding countryside as seen from the plateau and a view of the roperoad railway with trucks crossing the plateau in winter. Two waterfalls are probably scenic features photographed from the horse track connecting Denniston with the coastal plain. Other images relate to Christchurch. These include boating on the River Avon, and groups of people photographed standing on two different bridges, one of them in the Botanic Garden. From Wellington there is an image of the Skyline tea kiosk at the top of the Kelburn cable car. Four images record people on a beach backed by vertical sandstone cliffs beyond which can be seen what looks like gum trees.
