Description: Album of tourist views of New Zealand and the sub-Antarctic Islands, chiefly taken by John Richard Morris, Jnr, circa 1890s. Places and subjects listed above where identified. The Sub-Antarctic Island views are all of native flora and fauna of the different islands, listed on the images as mollymawks, albatrosses, sea lions, crested penguins and erect-crested penguins On page 32 there is a view of the SS Knight Templar leaving Lyttelton on February 17, 1900, taking about 260 soldiers and 300 horses of the 3rd Contingent "the New Zealand Roughriders" to Durban, en route to fight in the South African War. The wharf is crowded with people seeing the ship off, soldiers lined up alongside the ship, and bunting flying on two ships nearby. Quantity: 1 album(s) Album(s). Description: Photographs of deer carcasses being processed for export at Consolidated Traders Ltd's works at Rongatea and Rotorua. Also featured are carcasses of wild pigs awaiting processing and frozen goat carcasses bagged and ready for export. Several photographs show bales of deer pelts packed and covered with hessian. Deer photographed on Rex Giles' farm, Forest Park, at Maroa north of Taupo. Most of these photographs were in albums of plastic sleaves and were probably used as promotional material for the company. The prints were removed from the albums as the type of plastic bonds with the emusion of the print. Quantity: 54 b&w original photographic print(s).

Description: Gisborne and Petre went by sea to Coromandel and then by land, first up to Thames and travelling up the river, passing through pa, including Opita, then to Matamata, Tauranga, Rotorua, Lake Tarawera and Lake Rotomahana. They returned to Auckland by way of the Waikato River, passing through Maungatautari and Waipa. The journal includes interesting descriptions of Maori life and Gisborne meet the Revs Brown, Spencer, Chapman and Ashville [sic] and various prominent Maori. Description: Album of photographs (mainly landscapes) taken by John Tenison Salmon between 1930 and 1941. The album is divided into sections (not in chronological order), many relating to camping holidays with an unidentified companion. Areas covered included a Christmas holiday trip in 1937 to the East Coast and thermal regions around Tikitere and Waimangu, the Morere nikau forest, Mount Maunganui beach, Hongi's track, the buried village at Te Wairoa, and Rotorua. A North Auckland trip in December 1938 included camping as far north as Paihia, Russell and Waitangi, the Waitangi Falls, the Waipoua Kauri Forest and Trounson's Kauri Park, also Auckland, the Kaingaroa Plains and Waiouru Valley. Areas of erosion were noted, and mangrove swamps. An Anniversary Day trip (22-23 January 1939) took Salmon to the Putangirua Pinnacles in the Wairarapa; and in September 1941 he went to the Hawke's Bay area. In 1945 he went on a North Island Expedition working on malaria control, with ?Bissett, and William John Phillipps. February 20-27 1939 was a trip across the Napier-Taupo Road, and included a number of images of the silt and desolation caused by a great flood in the Esk Valley in 1938. In 1936 Salmon went on a geological trip to the Rotorua area, and at Orakei Korako he was particularly interested in "sinter formations" (thermal deposits of silica, of which the Pink and White Terraces were examples). Description: Drawn on a published map of Mayor Island to Poverty Bay with an extended portion of another map glued to include the area from Mayor Island to the Mercury Islands. The annotations depict extended river and partially smooth water limits at various points around the coastline from the Mercury Islands to Poverty Bay. The limit for Gisborne fishing boats extends from Cape Runaway to Poverty Bay. A reference key is included which states that river and smooth water limits are coloured blue and one area is prominently named Te Kaha river limits. Extended and partially smooth water limits are coloured red and three areas are prominently named Tauranga; Whakatane, Ohiwa and Opotiki; Te Kaha extended river limits. The Tauranga extension for fine weather only, at the discretion of the Inspector of Fisheries, is coloured green. 'Opotiki extreme limits' covers the approximate area between White Island and Whale Island. An additional area has been shaded green for the extended river and partial limit from Whangamata and Tauranga to Mayor Island, with details written in biro added at a later date. Also marked in biro are three anchorages for launches, one at Waihau Bay. 'George Siroper 9/1/25' is handwritten adjacent to reference key, at centre top of map. Signature hard to decipher. Description: This cartoon refers to the pay disputes at the NZ Forest Products pulp and paper mill in Kinleith and the Caxton and Tasman mills in Kawerau. Muldoon and another man are painting the centre road lines on forestry roads. The road in one direction has a road sign 'Kinleith no exit' and pointing in the other direction the sign reads 'Caxton by pass'. The roads join to make one road and the road lines are crossing over one another and are broken. The man is saying to Muldoon "we seem to have got our guide lines crossed".
