Description: Photographs of trips taken in the countryside, of bridges, rivers, streams, waterfalls, native forest, mountains, coastal scenery and other scenic views. There are pictures of cars and one of a motorcycle with side car. There are prints of two fly fishermen displaying their catch in a net and of a man holding up a large eel. Others show yachts in sail, and men and boys in yachts; adult fun sports at a group outing identified in PAColl-6712-2 as being the "optic championships". Another group are shown playing cricket in the grounds of Days Bay House. There is also a single print of a hunter showing his bag of wild game birds. Animals are represented by cattle and horses, one of the latter associated with two men and a wagon-full of freshly harvested hay, another is harnessed to a coach parked beside a stationary train. A sequence of prints records the dams and lakes of the newly completed Mangahao Hydro in the hills inland from Shannon. Three prints show a ship grounded in coastal shallows. There are portrait and group photographs of people, including children, and one print of a children's party. Several show picnic groups.

Description: Transparency slides of New Zealand selected by Mr Williams as a representative collection to be used in a series of lectures on his return to England. This group includes both slides Mr Williams took himself, and slides he purchased. This sheet shows a sheep drover on horseback with a pack horse and two dogs herding a flock of sheep near Gisborne; a woman sitting on a tree stump overlooking Lake Taupo and the mountains; fumarole vents near Lake Taupo; the Chateau Tongariro on Mount Ruapehu; a man standing beside the Crater Lake on Ruapehu; Mount Ngauruhoe; a garden in New Plymouth; a distant view of the house "Tupare" near new Plymouth; Mount Egmont; views on the road to Tokaora; railway line running through the centre of Palmerston North; the Manawatu Gorge; a street in Masterton; the Wairarapa plains and sheep farms; a stand of cabbage trees; dry riverbed of the Putangirua River en route to the Putangirua Pinnacles, and a view of the Pinnacles. The slides are not in his original numerical sequence, and are selected by subject relating to particular talks. Description: Adkin album. Wellington (2), nos. 241-441. Views of Wellington taken between 1950 and 1957. Includes harbour swim event at Evans Bay, 26 February 1950; speedboat contests at Evans Bay, 4 March 1950; Patent slip and the Union Steam Ship Co's wharf at Evans Bay; tulip Sunday at the Wellington Botanic Garden (15 October 1950); Evans Bay Yacht Club yard in use as a temporary base for Solent flying boats with the Ararangi at a mooring; various views of reclamation undertaken by TEAL for their flying boat service at Evans Bay, and flying boats. Many of the images in this album are linked with Evans Bay, as Adkin was living at 424 Evans Bay Parade in the 1950s, several images showing the house. Views of Wellington from the Mount Victoria lookout and from the Tinakori Ridge Radio Station, in 1952; the old Robert Hannah residence in Boulcott Street; views of the inner city including the upper end of Ghuznee St., Upper Willis St., the Children's Dental Clinic. Image no. 313 shows a house at 214 Upper Willis Street (known as Restwyn), taken in Feb 1953, while image no. 434 shows the same site in January 1957 after the house had been demolished. Numbers of images show preparations and decorations for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on 2 June 1953. There are many photographs of preparation for extending the airport at Rongotai, showing Moa Point Hill in course of destruction to provide spoil for reclamation, and also Rongotai Ridge, with one view of a house being moved from the ridge, also showing development of the breakwater at Moa Point, all taken betwen 1953 and 1957. A 1954 image shows an extension to the Town Hall under construction for municipal offices in December 1953; the Hinemoa at No. 1 Ferry Wharf; preparations and decorations for the visit of Queen Elizabeth II in December 1953, including decorations at the Railway Station, Defence Stores Building in Featherston St., Kirkcaldie & Stains, James Smiths Corner, DIC, and the GPO. Image taken in March 1956 shows a house with turret on the corner of Upper Willis St and Aro St (a house which was shown in CD Barraud's painting of 1877). Views of yachting in the harbour, Ward Island, and the Eastbourne seawall. Outcast yacht is pictured.
