Description: Panoramic photograph of Auckland city, including waterfront, taken Sunday, 9 Februrary, 1903 by Melvin Vaniman. Looks over city buildings and streets, and the edge of Waitamata Harbour, from opposite Queens Wharf and Queen Street (running vertically up centre). Quay Street runs along the water's edge. A range of shipping vessels, including a paddle steamer, are berthed at wharves. Signs advertise the following businesses (from left to right): D Goldie, timber merchant; Roller flour mills and stores; John Burns & Co, iron merchants; New Zealand Herald; Wingate & Co; Spargo Gladstone Coffee Palace; and Westfield chemical works.
