Gives detailed and lively descriptions of the voyage, fellow passngers, including Robert Louis Stevenson's stepson Lloyd Osbourne, ports visited and of New Zealand. Gives acerbic impressions of Auckland, Rotorua, Taupo, Wellington, Lyttelton, Christchurch and Dunedin, and of New Zealanders, both Pakeha and Maori. Includes photographs taken and labelled by him.
