Description: Shows a view of Auckland from the harbour. A sailing ship features prominently in the middle foreground, bearing a blue ensign flag. A jetty is seen on the right with a road leading up to Parnell. Other buildings featuring on the hillside are St Paul's church, and Fort Britomart barracks. Two other boats can be seen in the harbour: a steam boat and a small yacht. A buoy bobs in the water in the immediate foreground. Description: Shows a view looking across bracken, to the back of the first Government House (built 1842, burnt 1848), with the Waitemata and North Head in the background. There is a sailing ship in the right distance, and a waka with two triangular sails on the harbour. Two Maori sit in the bracken, and their is a goat grazing in the left foreground. In the right centre background is a raised storehouse (?), and there is a clump of flax in the right foreground. The hill above Devonport has a flagstaff. The album was passed by Eliza Hobson to her daughter, Eliza, Lady Rendel.

Description: Chromolithograph cover of a 28-page souvenir of the visit of Edward Prince of Wales shows an oval inset photograph of the Prince at top centre between a lion and a unicorn and the British and New Zealand flags. Below him is the Prince of Wales plume and motto "Ich dien". The coats of arms of Auckland and New Zealand are shown at left and right of the page. At lower centre is an inset photograph of the HMS "Renown" flanked by two views of the Waitemata Harbour. The border shows a Maori design with Prince of Wales plumes at the four corners. Description: View of Auckland Harbour with steam passenger ferry Toroa sailing towards the wharves, showing the city and Mount Eden in the background. Photographed between 1926 and 1929 by an unknown photographer. Other - Note on back of print reads `12184 Auckland (Rangitoto the Ferry)' David Balderson identified the ferry as the Toroa, and the date as the late 1920s by the presence of the steamer Wakatere at Northern Wharf. Wakatere stopped running in about 1928. (Information recieved January 2009). The Toroa was built in 1925 by George Niccol of Auckland for the Devonport Stream Ferry Co. It was taken out of service in 1980. It was the last steam passenger ferry built for Auckland Harbour, and has been restored from 1998 onwards. Description: View from the end of the wharf at the foot of Queen Street, looking towards the waterfront buildings and up Queen Street, with Partington's windmill on the skyline. A line of barrels along the wharf and two containers of goods, a man wheeling a wheelbarrow, another wheeling a barrow, two soldiers, other groups of citizens, Maori canoes and a rowboat drawn up at the water's edge on the left and groups of Maori sitting. The Wesleyan (Methodist) Chapel is on the left, above the first row of buildings. A version in oils of this view is in the Mitchell Library, Sydney. An uncoloured lithograph is also held (by the Turnbull Library) at C-010-005. The Library also holds watercolour copies of this view by W. S. Hatton, copied from an Illustrated London News wood engraving from this print, at B-078-012 and B-078-017 and the Mitchell, too, has a watercolour copy by Hatton, an English artist who confined his work to copies of views in the Illustrated London News.
