Description: Central text of praise for Seddon's attendance at Coronation of Edward VII, and for sending Maori forces to fight (in Boer War?). Text inset into stylised Maori carved house, surrounded by various New Zealand native trees. Top shows 4 flags, Maori in traditional and European army dress, a view of Mt Cook, and a picture of a white heron. Below text is a Maori war canoe containing Maori paddlers and European passengers. Railways album 3

Description: Publicity photographs taken by various unidentified photographers for New Zealand Railways. The only identifying information is a few pencilled notes giving some locations, but there are no captions identifying people. There is a large sequence showing events surrounding the first celebrations marking the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi on 6th February 1934 attended by Lord Bledisloe. He had purchased the site, and donated money for the Treaty House renovations in 1932. The celebrations brought 10,000 Maori to Waitangi. The images show huge crowds, haka parties, various iwi performing, and parties of dignitaries including Lord and Lady Bledisloe, Joseph Gordon Coates and George William Forbes. Other scenes with Lord Bledisloe show him visiting the Waitaki Hydroelectric power station. Views of New Zealand include Government Tourist Bureau accomodation houses including those at Waitomo and the Hermitage (Mt. Cook); accomodation houses at Helensville and Parakai with interior and exterior views, and showing activities available (spa pools, games such as croquet, golf, and bowls); anglers standing by swordfish they have caught; skiing and ski lessons; and waterfalls. Industrial and agricultural views show dairy cows, citrus groves, the Kiwi Bacon Factory, printing presses, and race courses. A number show people at the beach at Mount Maunganui, and a large group picniking. Quantity: 1 album(s) Album(s). Description: Drawing on the cover of Brett's Christmas number for 1930 shows a scene in the South Island high country, with bush-covered hills, glimpse of a mountain river, and snow-capped peaks. In the left foreground is a group of Maori, one of whom is sitting on the ground peeling one of a pile of potatoes. There is a metal container and a large kete beside her. Another woman sits beside her, and another (a mother with her baby on her back) stands beside them. Beyond is a Maori man with a staff, and a whare with two figures sitting in front of it. There is a tall straight-trunked tree in the right foreground. Iorns album

Description: A pocket inside the front cover of this album contains 23 loose photographs of landscapes in New Zealand, many of them Government Publicity Photos. In the South Island various views show Milford and the Milford Track, Tasman Glacier, Mount Cook, and the Buller Gorge. In the North Island there are several views of a group of fallow deer near Featherston; two of geysers at Whakarewarewa; and two of caves in the Waitomo Cave system, showing the underground river in the Aranui Cave, and stalactites in the Ruakuri cave. The main body of the album contains older photographs, circa 1890s, of townscapes in the Wairarapa. Two scenes show groups of Maori performers, one of a posed group of men and women, some holding taiaha and mere; the other of a group of young girls dancing on a podium. Description: Album of scenic views of New Zealand, many taken by Thomas Pringle, others taken by photographers from the New Zealand Tourist Department, and others by unidentified photographers. A number are hand-coloured. South Island scenes include Milford Sound, lake and mountain views, and some of Christchurch city. North island scenes include a number in Wellington, with views of city streets, the Chief Post Office, Government Buildings, St John's Church and the railway station. Most of the other North Island views are of tourist destinations, particularly in the thermal regions, with hot springs, geysers and mud pools. There are a large number relating to Maori, especially at Whakarewarewa, with taniko weaving, flax weaving, poi dancers, te hongi, and posed portraits of young girls in front of a meeting house wearing different styles of cloaks.
