Description: An arrangement of text and illustration, on two sides of a pamphlet warning of the dangerous positioning of the airport, too near to hills. One side shows plans and elevations of the airport at Rongotai, and a map of the area. The verso reproduces correspondence from the early 1930s between Hyde and A K Turner, with whom Hyde felt a grievance. Two copies held. Description: Transparency slides of Mr E G Williams' (Edmund Gardner Williams') travel in New Zealand in 1959. This sheet of slides was probably taken earlier than those on some of the preceding sheets (information from his diary). This sheet contains images of Wellington, including Wellington Airport; views from Mount Victoria; around the Wellington coast including shore with marram grass and black-backed gulls; the Petone Settlers' Memorial; Marine Parade around Miramar, with the Monowai sailing through Wellington Heads; buildings in the city including Parliament Buildings, Government Buildings, Wakefield House at 90 The Terrace, used by the Founders Club; and an old two-storeyed wooden house on the Terrace; the Corinthic loading various goods at Wellington Wharves; Lambton Quay; Cable Car terminal and views of Wellington; and the Carter Observatory. Slides on this sheet are numbered 505-528, with a gap for no. 506. Arrangement: Image no. 506 (showing the view from Mount Victoria in Wellington) was taken as part of Williams' representative collection on New Zealand for various lectures which he gave when he returned to England. Description: Drawn on a street map, showing the layout of Rongotai Aerodrome, Wellington, from Evans Bay Parade and Seatoun Road (now Rongotai Road), south-eastwards to Sidlaw Street, Wellington. Shows the proposed land reclamation for the airstrip (approximately 102 acres in Evans Bay north of Seatoun Road, and at the southeast tip of Lyall Bay). Shows sections between Bridge and Miro Street that are in the path of the new runway; marks the proposed terminal area, future airstrip extensions and the Miramar golf links.
