Description: A base map of the Rotorua district has numerous added notes, handwritten in the margins and over the top half of the map itself. These cover a variety of topics and include names of individuals, Maori chiefs, where they lived with some events and occupations. Multiple Maori place names are included with descriptive notes in English. Some dates are recorded with details of battles and numbers killed. Topographical features are marked, such as land cave, waterfall, hot spring and unrelated references such as a note about a half-full kete of tawa berries. Names include: Pirimi Mataiawea, Gilbert Mair, N'whakane, Paddy Murphy - deserter from Imperial Regt., Te Waharoa, T.H. Smith - Maketu, Tamati te Aorangi - Maori war veteran. Description: Topographic map of the area from the Wanganui River near Petania, includes parts of the Ongarue River and Main Trunk Line, the Punui and Waikato rivers, Lakes Taupo and Rotoaira. Names of rivers, some mountain ranges and settlements are included. Rohe Potae (i.e. King Country) land, in the Taupo Ruapehu districts, claimed by the Ngati Maniapoto and that awarded to Ngati Tuwharetoa are divided by a boundary line and referred to in key. 'Maniapoto' and 'Tuwharetoa' are written across their respective land. Description: A base map of Lake Taupo showing urban zones, existing, proposed and national reserves has been possibly used by the Officials Committee to hilight the lakeshore reserves and to mark boundaries of blocks, the extent of development, also present development and development not started, all of which are referred to in keys. Numerous pencilled notes refer to Maori land ownership and written topographical descriptions of some reserves. A few place names are added and a note states that the Oruapuraho and Waikino streamas are out of position, Blocks are named Whareroa, Te Hapua, Waikino, Waihaha, Puketapu, Marotiri, Acacia, Tuhingamata, Wairakei, Rangatira, Tauhara Base map: Taupo Lakeshore, showing urban zones and reserves under District Planning schemes and suggested national reserves. Description: A base cadastral map of thirty-two numbered sections with acreages and some boundary measurements, in part of the Pukawa land block, owned by Kahu Te Kuru, in the Puketi survey district. The annotation to this map shows the numbered sections outlined as far as the lake's edge. One section is marked for community use (parking). Roads included are Motutaiko Street and Pihanga Road which is noted as formed, metalled and being legalised. Includes reserves adjacent to Lake Taupo, and the lines of the current lake edge in 1963 and the lake edge by M.L. 3729. Two areas of 4C3 are marked for development by Trustees. Includes references to D.P. 23996, M.L. 3729, M.L. 4851. Extended Title - Scheme plan of proposed subdivision of part Pukewa 4C3, Block III Puketi survey district.
