McAllister album

Date: 1930s to 1950

Reference: PA1-q-148

Description: Album of photographs relating to the Rivers and Leach families. Many of the people and scenes are unidentified. They include various houses and a large number of farming scenes with Southdown sheep, hay barns, harvesting linseed, ploughing, and logging in a plantation of pine trees. Some photographs of a rural bungalow house are captioned with dates between 1940 and 1942 and 'Glen Grove'. All the places which are identified are in the South Island, so it seems likely that the two homes that are named are in the Canterbury or Otago areas. One group portrait shows members of the Scargill Voluntary Aid Division A number of scenes show an Austin Sheerline car, a make which was introduced in 1947 and continued to be produced until 1954. Source of title - Title supplied by Library Quantity: 1 album(s). Physical Description: Album with soft brown cover; 27 x 17 cm Provenance: Donated by Ken McAllister, Christchurch, 1980 Processing information: Name record for 'Glen Grove (House)' was retired in December 2017 as it is unclear if this caption is the name of a house.
