Description: Cadastral map with topographical details, showing the Hutt River, upstream of Melling, Lower Hutt, southwards past the new bridge to the Aglionby Arms, music hall and Valentine's Hall. Shows a section of a road described as 'the main road from the Wairarapa to Wellington', as well as land purchased by the government for protection purposes, river banks, shingle banks, reclaimed land and section numbers no. 24-5 and 28-9. Hotels, stables, the Oddfellow's hall, Catholic chapel, and the bridge toll house are sited. Section owner names on the map include: Hall, Dodds, Phillips, Hill, Bishop, Buck, Henry Bunny, Burt, Riddiford, Fitzherbert, Mrs Tuckwell, Mrs Brown, Saxby, Bradshaw, Gigger, Detcheon, Valentine, ?Keys (some names are hard to decipher).
