Description: Sales catalogue for the company which merged in 1918 with the Farmers' Union Trading Company, to become the Farmers' Trading Company. Inside front cover shows a calendar for the last part of 1915, and January-September 1916. There is a foreword by company founder Robert Laidlaw, photographs of the Auckland sales staff, photographs of the showrooms of each department and portraits of the staff who ran them; photographs of office staff at work and the shop equipment (entrance stairs, elevator, employees dining room, currant cleaner and raisin stemmer, the packing department), and an illustration of the warehouse on the corner of Hobson and Wyndham Streets. There follows an advertisement for the company's book of plans and specifications for houses, and an account of the way the war was affecting prices and supplies of goods (See pages 18-21). Information about ordering, paying and freighting follow. Description: Photographs of New Zealand, many taken by Robert Henry Bartlett. Several of these were taken in Nelson, one showing Fairfield House, and one interior view of a room (on page 50) with the pencilled caption "Fell - Nelson". Possibly in what is now named Warwick House which was built by Alfred Fell in 1854. However pages 19 to 31 contain photographs taken by Josiah Martin in the Rotomahana hot springs area including the village of Te Wairoa, and the Pink and White Terraces before the 1886 Tarawera eruption. The album contains 53 pages of which 32 to 49 are empty. Description: Shows close view of troops on the bank of the river preparing to cross: some loading dinghy at left, a group sitting smoking pipes centre left, a cannon and packhorses waiting to go. Further off are wagons, more soldiers, two sailing ships and several dinghies crossing the river towards the left bank in left distance. At right background rises the high ground of the right bank, and in central distance the camp on the cliff top. Verso contains pencilled diary notes for 14, 15, 16 March 1865: packed up tents and marched to Manutahi Pa but no sign of life there and they took peaceful possession, looting wharies and getting a few pigeon spears, mats and plenty of potatoes - went out and shot a pig and stabbed another - next day shot another pig with revolver. On 16 March, got up early and went to stock yards where a "most troublesome little black cow" was chosen - she ran and "butted everything including a poor gun horse who got in the way - however she was soon lashed up to a gun, and yielded good milk for breakfast". Description: Shows small storehouse on two stout poles about 10 feet high, with a notched pole used as a ladder between them. Beneath the house are bags of food, and a Maori pounds stick on a block. Another stands at bottom of ladder. In the background two figures sit by a cooking pot outside a whare, and a dog roams in front of them. At right is a fence with carved posts.
