Description: View of Cowes Bay taken from a high vantage point above the bay and looking north. Pakatoa Island is just visible in the far distance on the right. A ferry is moored at the wharf. The Cowes Bay boarding house / hotel? is in the immediate foreground on the left. People can be seen crowded around the pavilion or passenger waiting room (?) in the middle distance near the end of the wharf. Taken by William Archer Price in early 1900s. Description: View looking along the beach at Pipitewai Bay. A large wooden dwelling can be seen close to the foreshore (possibly the Awaawaroa Guesthouse, and/or the Gordon family homestead). People can be seen walking along the beach and sitting on the beach in front of the white picket fence which separates the house from the beach. A yacht is anchored close to the water's edge and a man is sitting in a row boat close to the shore. Photographed by William Archer Price in early 1900s. Description: View of Cowes Bay looking south-west down onto the beach from a high vantage point on the headland to the north of the bay. The wharf can be seen in the middle foreground, and a large wooden building (Cowes Bay boarding house / hotel?) is in the middle distance behind trees. People are walking on the beach, and rowing or playing in boats close to shore. A group of people are buying things at the shop on the beachfront opposite the wharf.
