Description: View of graves at an unidentified cemetery at Rotorua. The grave in the immediate foreground is that of Edwin Bainbridge who was killed by a falling balcony at Te Wairoa on 10 June 1886 following the eruption of Mount Tarawera. The memorial obelisk (with photograph of Bainbridge) is enclosed by a spiked metal fence. The grave to the left of Bainbridge's is presumably that of the Haszard family who also died at Te Wairoa as a result of the eruption. The grave on the far left is that of Charles Haszard. The area surrounding the graves is flat and sandy, with hills visible in the far distance. Photograph taken by Burton Bros, ca late 1880s. The Haszard graves are located in the Rotorua Cemetery, Sala Street. The Bainbridge grave is located at the Kauae Cemetery, Ngongotaha. (From communication with Rotorua District Council, 2007).
