Description: Album of tramps, camps, and other boy scouting activities, chiefly photographed by Gerald Rainsford Craddock, who was an active scout member and later scout master during the 1930s at Otorohanga. Maori legends and hand-drawn maps accompany the photographs, bringing New Zealand geography and history alive to the young scouts. Outings include following Te Kooti's trail, searching for caves where moa bones have been found, and climbing to various trig stations in the Waikato area. Description: A cadastral map of rural lands open for selection on lease in perpetuity, of the area adjacent to the east branch of the Mangaohae River, including the Waiangura and Mangotaki Rivers, including the Manga-o-taki Road. This base map has numbered sections, some have been coloured, and include acreages, owners' names and dates handwritten in each section. Sites include: Cattle - camping, creamery, cemetery, school site and a section reserved for the township. What remains of the map on the reverse has some sections outlined in red with a prominent note stating 'Superseded. See map on face'. The base map is a plan of sections in the Maugamangero survey district in the Awakino and Waitomo counties. Auckland land district No. 787. A schedule of first class surveyed land (heavy bush) is referred to in a key. The vegetation is named as are rivers, streams and roads. A schedule of the land is referred to in a key and includes the section number, acreage and rent. Instructions to applicants and a caution follow the with the printed name of James Mackenzie, Commissioner of Crown Lands. A statement on the left side of the map begins 'first class surveyed land (heavy-bush) 4316 acres, 1 rood'. Includes the application date of 16th. August 1905 at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland. A map, inset on the bottom left, is a locality plan of the area from the Kaipara Harbour to Hawke's Bay Handwritten names listed are: P. There are a number of views of the Pink and White Terraces, scenes of Maori life in the King Country, and scenic views of Dunedin and the Queenstown-Lakes District.
