Description: The cartoon shows a small island, New Zealand, with a small pipe reading, Motunui, dripping small amounts of pollution into the sea. Looking over their shoulders the New Zealanders notice a Frenchman from another island waving and saying hello. He is standing next to a pipe that reads, Mururoa, which is pouring huge amounts of pollution into the sea. The New Zealander's look shocked. Description: Prime Minister Norman Kirk stands on a wharf playing 'Now is the Hour' on a tuba as the ship HMNZS Otago departs, flying the New Zealand flag. The Labour government, elected the previous year, sent the frigate H.M.N.Z.S Otago to Mururoa Atoll to protest against the nuclear testing being done there by the French government. Description: French president Francois Mitterand opens a garbage can labelled Muroroa full of dead fish and offers it to New Zealand. Mitterand says `Be my guest New Zealand...'. From the garbage can comes an obviously foul odour. Refers to the damage caused to Mururoa Atoll by decades of French nuclear tests. Description: The cartoon is in two parts. The first part shows a Frenchman with a cheque reading, compenstation. It is compensation for the bombing of the Rainbow Warrior and the death of one of the crew. The next part shows the same Frenchman, he has an essay tittled Mururoa testing - How to perfect killing millions. He is saying to himself, now, where was I?
