Description: Photographs taken by Maurice Henry Hayward while on a work relief scheme on the Chatham Islands building a new wharf at Waitangi. Included are views of Waitangi and its principle buildings, the Post Office, the hotels and the radio station. Also depicted is race day, bullock teams, horses hauling wool bales on sledges, sheep waiting at Waitangi Wharf, human bones, Tommy Solomon's funeral, a shipwreck, the countryside, and coastal views. Throughout the album are images of the old wharf at Waitangi, and the new one under construction and finally completed. There is a record of a tramping and hunting trip made by three or four men, one of whom was Hayward, and two interior views of the living quarters for the relief workers. Some photographs show the men riding horses, and dressed as cowboys or tough looking seamen. Quantity: 1 album(s) Album(s).

Description: Album of portraits, group photographs, and photographs of Denniston buildings. A number of the group photographs have been set in the bush. They appear to be family groups, and one group of young men, all in their Sunday best. Two photographs are of men with horses outside a corrugated iron stable, another shows two men on a track in the bush, another shows a group of three surveyors photographed outside a mine entrance. One photograph records what seems to be a corporate visit to Denniston. One of the men is probably Jonathan Dixon who became general manager of the Denniston mines in 1902. Description: Transparency slides of Mr E G Williams' (Edmund Gardner Williams') travel in New Zealand, and his return voyage to England on the Corinthic. The first 3 slides show wandering albatrosses in flight and on a nest, followed by four images of native New Zealand alpine plants in the South Island including Spaniards speargrass, the South Island gentian, a mountain daisy, and a form of senecio. The following views relate to his travel on the Corinthic via Pitcairn Island, including approaching the island, small boats approaching, and two Pitcairn Island women. The next slides show scenes in Panama where they went ashore visiting various sights including Iglesia de San José and Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen, leaving next day through the Panama Canal.
