Description: Farmland and farm houses, fences, cattle, the river on the right with two horsemen on a path alongside, two men in a small boat on the river, native bush in the background. A house on the left is named as 'Jas Maitlands', another on the right as 'Fergusons' 'Jas Maitland' seems likely to be James Pillans Maitland, resident magistrate of the Clutha of Tokomairiro districts, and manager of a farm at Kaitangata, near a bend in the Clutha River or on Inch Clutha.
