Description: A series of quick sketches. A two-storied house with another at right-angles (or the same house seen from a different angle) is the most finished. It may show the artist's house at Amuri. There are fifteen drawings of men's faces, including one of a moustached man with upper body including, possibly in a military uniform. There are several cows drawn from several angles and one horse's head. There is also a small drawing of two stick-figure men lining up to fight one another with seated figures behind them. The drawing is undated but the details are likely to have been observed at Duppa's Amuri run in the 1860s. The inside back cover of the sketchbook includes the name and English address of Duppa's nephew, Bryan, who visited Amuri in 1863 Quantity: 1 drawing(s). Description: Transparency slides of New Zealand selected by Mr Williams as a representative collection to be used in a series of lectures on his return to England. This sheet starts with a series of maps, a world political map, map of the sea floor showing the relationship of New Zealand with the various undersea mountain ridges etc., New Zealand physical, rainfall, and geological maps. Views of Cape Maria van Diemen and Rangitoto nearing New Zealand on board ship. Auckland Harbour from the air; Auckland from Devonport; Ninety-Mile Beach; country near Waipoua Forest, the road into the forest, and Tane Mahuta, on the way to Kaipara; Kaihu River and coastal country between Trounson's Forest and Waihue; and Omamari beach and stream. The last five views show aspects of Holmridge farm owned by Mr Williams' friends Ruth and Vernon Woods. Arrangement: These slides were selected by Mr Williams from his original sequence to create a representative collection of New Zealand images which he used in illustrated lectures on his return to England.
