Description: Children from Karori Playcentre, Wellington, get ready for a meeting at Parliament grounds. Photographed by Evening Post staff photographer, Jon Hargest. Wellington playcentres wanted Education Minister Lockwood Smith to acknowledge their expertise as early childhood educators in his Parents as First Educators scheme. The 25 member groups of the Wellington playcentre Association signed a statement for presentation to Dr Smith.
