Description: Map of Otaki, with revisions made in white correcting fluid. The area is from the sea to the racecourse including the Otaki River and the golf links, Otaki Beach, Rangiuru and Otaki Town settlements. Shows the sites of the King George V Memorial Health Camp, several areas of Church Mission Grant land, the Catholic Church Mission Station, Maori Church, pa, memorial to Te Rauparaha, schools, the hospital and sanitorium reserves and a mill. Includes dates when the Catholic Mission Station was opened and dates when the church, presbytery and school were built. Streets and streams are named and the old course of the Otaki River is marked as is the borough boundary and built up areas. A reference key shows numbered sites of interest. Description: Gisborne and Petre went by sea to Coromandel and then by land, first up to Thames and travelling up the river, passing through pa, including Opita, then to Matamata, Tauranga, Rotorua, Lake Tarawera and Lake Rotomahana. They returned to Auckland by way of the Waikato River, passing through Maungatautari and Waipa. The journal includes interesting descriptions of Maori life and Gisborne meet the Revs Brown, Spencer, Chapman and Ashville [sic] and various prominent Maori. As President George W Bush calls for Israel to withdraw from Palestine, a dog (Ariel Sharon) urinates on his leg. President Bush tries to mediate peace negotiations betweem Arafat and Sharon. A septic tank is on daily call to clean up the mess in the Alliance Party caucus. Two coffins are carried by pallbearers. The first contains the body of the Queen Mother, the second, the remains of Helen Clark's plans for a Republic. Bill English hears the news that Helen Clark has enough support to rule for life. Comment on Helen Clark's involement in signing art works that she didn't paint. Graham Murries coaching career is resurected following the Hurricanes win over the Brumbies. Lawyers discuss the reasons not to sever links with the Privy Council; many of the reasons are led by self interest. The United States congratulates itself while Israel and Palestine come closer and closer to annihilation. New Zealand's arm is severed by an axe as they reach out to hold the Rugby World Cup host status. The axeman is Australian. The NZRFU offer the two executives who negotiated the World Cup Host contracts a gun and two bullets to end their misery. Israeli tanks crush the Palestinian Refugee Camp in an effort to end the cycle of hate.
