Description: Drawn on a cadastral base map, updated 21 August 1939, of the Lower Hutt industrial area, bounded by the Waiwhetu River and the Hutt River, the annotations show sections sold (in red) and sections open for selection (in green). The sections, numbered with acreages, are bounded by Bell, Gracefield, Park and Seaview Roads, and the railway line runs through the area. Areas sold include the names Wellington Concrete, Schweppes Ltd., ESW Paul, Millans West Australian Hardwoods, W Cable & Co., Winstones Roofing Tile Works, Acetone Illuminating & Welding Coy., Wellington Concrete Pipe Coy., Ford Motor Co., Hume Pipe Coy., Vacuum Oil Coy., Texas Oil Coy., British Australian Lead Manufacturers., Suburban Properties, CH Morley, WA Cairns. Railway workshops, drainage easements, sewers, septic tanks, pumping stations, a quarry and watermains are marked. Areas open for selection include some Crown Land, the remainder are unnamed. Description: A pamphlet recommending that manufacturers consider extending their businesses into the Wairarapa. It gives brief statistics of the area: area, population, stock statistics, chief town, the promised tunnel, aerodrome, sunshine; a page listing the schools in the district and their rolls, a list of sporting facilities, industries operating and industries wanted. Description: Five base maps of the Adelaide Road and King Street industrial area, Newtown, Wellington have been used to show the conversion of residential and multiple small industrial units to two industrial enterprises based there in 1950 approximately. Myrtle Crescent, Drummond and Hansen streets are named. Plan No. T.P. 111 - 4/68 shows the existing conditions of residential and industrial occupancy. A reference key details the number of residential units and persons. The industrial reference key lists street addresses, names of occupiers and volume of floor space. Occupants include slipper factory, plumber, bank agency, grocer, furniture factory, metal spinner, carrier's depot, ladies tailors. Also named is a section of vacant Crown Land and W.C.C. sub-station. Pencilled additions are of a reclamation area, Wellington City Council sections, Tramway Hotel, site of a new building, also the names Spincraft, East, Harte. Plan No. T.P. 112 - 4/69, Stage 1 of Development. Reference keys show numbers of families to be re-housed from residences to be demolished and premises required for industry which includes ownership statistics of Asiatics. Industries to be rehoused are listed as plumber, furniture factory, metal spinner, millinery, grocer, bank agency. Property to be acquired is also highlighted. Plan No. T.P. 113 - 4/70, Stage 2 of Development, shows the Post and Telegraph Department's site, approximate area 5,500 square feet. The building line is marked. The route of King Street has been altered. Plan No. 114 - 4/71, Stage 3 of Development. The Post and Telegraph Department's site, approximate area 55.500 square feet with building line is shown. Also the Incubator Factory site with its building line and site of a new building is prominently marked. Family units to be re-housed from residences to be demolished are referred to in a key. Plan No. 115 - 4/72, Stage 4 of Development. The Post and Telegraph Department's site, approximate area 55,500 square feet, with building line is shown. The Incubator Factory site, approximate area of 41,400 square feet, with building line and site of a new building is marked. Description: Wellington Harbour Board topographic and survey map of the Patent Slipway Company's property on Evans Bay Road, now known as Evans Bay Parade. The area includes sites of two slipways and jetties, engine rooms, engineering, blacksmith, boilerhouse, tinsmiths, paint, basket and upholstery workshops, general and bond stores, timber rack, brick garage and laundry. Respective building materials are listed. The boundary, a wharf and a limit of reclamation are marked with the total acreage to the outer boundary. Reservoirs, stormwater overflow and sewer drains are marked, as are property boundaries of post, rail and wire fences with the position of wooden dwellings, some outside of the Company's area on Kainui Road. Picket, board and iron fences are marked, as is a vegetable garden and fowl house. Includes high water marks by Ward in 1887, sites of dolphins, a beach, concrete wall and stone pitching. Evans Bay Road is described as bitumen and its width is given. Additions to the base map are various acreages and boundary measurements of the workshop and store areas of the Patent Slipway Company's property at Evans Bay. Acreages of hilly and flat land are totalled separately. A pencilled note gives valuations for the acreage 3.2.20 at 4000 pounds sterling an acre, also for 'Northeast triangle' at 3200 pounds sterling.
