Description: Two photographs of an ANZAC Day parade in Wellington in 1950. The first shows a military band and returned servicemen walking past the war memorial at the bottom of Bowen Street with spectators lining the streets. The second shows bands, including pipe bands, coming from the direction of the Hotel Cecil and Molesworth Street towards the memorial (which is not in the picture) also watched by spectators. The Artcraft Theatre can be seen on the right. Photographer unidentified. Description: A collection of postcards and printed views (possibly from a magazine) of New Zealand scenes primarily of towns and cities rather than scenic views. They include one of two Maori women washing clothes at Rotorua, another of the Royal visit in 1927 and a family group of seven men and three women possibly taken in Belfast. A number of the postcards have been used. Also included are five original photographs which have been captioned with the family connections: a soldier in uniform, possibly named Ralph Ferguson; Uncle Henry Babe's wedding photograph; cousin Violet Bradford in America; Albert and Elizabeth (Eliza) Babe (brother and sister) and four others; Thomas and Fanny Babe (grandpa and grandma) with Eliza, Harold, Albert, Olivia, Queenie and Gladys. There are also an old photograph of W Stack's Hotel in Hastings with men and horses outside (in poor condition); a woman in what may be a 1930 Chrysler Plymouth with another snow away from the tyres; the gravestone of Julius von Haast; Queen's Wharf, Wellington showing a recently returned troop transport ship; an orchestra performing at the 1907 Christchurch exhibition; men of the No. 19 Platoon with a car at the summit of the Rimutakas; postcard from P B Davis to Mr A French showing a group of First World War soldiers with the message that they are about to leave for France; and six children at the base of a large Maori carving with a bell attached at Ohinemutu. Description: Volume two of 'The 9.5 am' magazine (Vol 2 No 1, Feb 1903 - Vol 2 No 11, Dec 1903). Contains whimsical articles about 'colonial' life. Includes jokes, poems, extracts, and illustrations. The illustrations include drawings, paintings, and photographs. The Oct 1 1903 issue includes a poem, photograph, and autographs relating to the 'Civil service bicycle race'. Images include: - 'Kurow' which includes a scene of hills, mountains and a wooden building. - Valley of the Hawdon River. - Upper Waimakariri and "Glaciers at the head of the Waimakariri (from Bealey)". - Hakataramea Station. - A full page photograph of a cricket match between England and Canterbury, Feb 6, 7 and 9, 1903, at Lancaster Park in Christchurch. Most prints relate to the West Coast Region, but also some images of Nelson, Canterbury, and Otago regions. Identified people are: Kopara Sawmill workers Bill Brown, Owen Jacobs, Morry Pullman, Hans Van Ruyven, Jimmy Birchfield, Doug Macalister, Joe Kavanagh, Neil McLean, Archy Fluerty, saw doctor John Henry Ord, Ted McGhie; licensee of Nelson Creek Hotel D Graham; Dorothy Debenham; Mick Bowie, and chief guide at Mt Cook Hermitage. Unidentified people include a female French tourist and some children. Featured natural environments include Karamea beach scenes, mining and sawmilling sites, and Buller Gorge. Featured town sequences include Reefton and Nelson's Creek houses and businesses, many of which are derelict.
