Description: Panoramic view looking across and down Furlong Street in the foreground. From the lfar left of the image to the centre are seen shops in the distance, a cart laden with sacks, and a car and a bicycle parked in the street. Next is the two-storeyed wooden 'Dominion Hotel'. To the right of the hotel is a row of concrete buildings associated with the South Taranaki Winter Show. They include, from left, Farmers' Co-op and the Defence Office, then the kitchener Hall (containing the registered office of Ararata Melrose normanby & Mells Co-op Dairy Co. (A W Page, secr.)). Next on the right is the Lloyd-George Hall containing the offices of the South Taranaki Winter Show Co. Ltd (L.O. Hooker, secr)). There are three men and a dog standing outside. There is a road next to the Show Buildings in which a car is parked (number plate WN7158), and a house is visible at the far end. Description: Transparency slides of New Zealand selected by Mr Williams as a representative collection to be used in a series of lectures on his return to England. This group includes both slides Mr Williams took himself, and slides he purchased. This sheet shows a sheep drover on horseback with a pack horse and two dogs herding a flock of sheep near Gisborne; a woman sitting on a tree stump overlooking Lake Taupo and the mountains; fumarole vents near Lake Taupo; the Chateau Tongariro on Mount Ruapehu; a man standing beside the Crater Lake on Ruapehu; Mount Ngauruhoe; a garden in New Plymouth; a distant view of the house "Tupare" near new Plymouth; Mount Egmont; views on the road to Tokaora; railway line running through the centre of Palmerston North; the Manawatu Gorge; a street in Masterton; the Wairarapa plains and sheep farms; a stand of cabbage trees; dry riverbed of the Putangirua River en route to the Putangirua Pinnacles, and a view of the Pinnacles. The slides are not in his original numerical sequence, and are selected by subject relating to particular talks.
