Papakura became part of a larger area. The implication of the cartoon may be that the amalgamation allowed cost-cutting which would contribute towards funds for the purchase of the frigates. Description: Comprises one black painted and lacquered wooden photograph album with illustrated cover of tiger and map of Malaya. Album has damaged musical mechanism. Contains black and white images chiefly relating to the military service of Tony Carl Piuraki Tikao (service no. 832588) in Malaya. Taken by RNZAF, Star-Sun New Zealand Newspapers Ltd, and unidentified photographer(s) between 1962 and circa 1970. -Views taken in Malaya include: a Belvadier helicopter at Asahan, scenes of the Penang Hill railway, Chusan Hotel, Penang Hill Hotel, Mount Pleasant and views taken from the Penang-Butterworth ferry. -Also includes loose colour prints of Paddy Smith and Bob Owens socialising, and roadside scenes of two people, a house and a campervan near a lake, possibly in the South Island. -Also includes loose photocopy of two New Zealand Army `Certificates of Transfer to Reserve And/or Discharge' for T C P Tikao dated 29 March 1968 and 14 October 1964. -Also includes loose black and white prints of a Belvadier helicopter, groups of soldiers taken during training courses, border operations taken at the Malayan/Thailand border in 1962/3.
