Description: Comprises typescript copy of original typescript of report by Baird on his visit to areas affected by the Hawke's Bay Earthquake. He gives the reasons for his visit, describes the people he met and the damage to each place he visited and includes observations on earthquakes in general and in particular. His travels (accompanied by Dr C E Adams, Dominion Astronomer and Seismologist) took him by car from Wellington, over the Rimutakas, through Waipukurau to Napier. From there he visited Hastings, flew over the land from Cape Kidnappers to Wairoa, and again travelled by car to places outside Napier and Hastings. Original carbon typescript was indistinct in places so there are omissions in this version.
