Description: Maker(s) not identified. Contains silver rose bowl with black stand, with a netting to hold blooms. The black base has a plaque inscribed "presented to Mrs. Basham by St Mary's Church members, Waipukaurau July 1924". The cup was likely pesented to Mrs Maud Basham when she left Waipukurau after six years, to go to Ngatea. She had taught music and choir, and organised entertainment groups in Waipukurau. They include a sequence at the beginning of the wedding of Brian Stewart Geddes, and Audrey Marion (nee Hopkins), on 14th May 1945. Their family, especially their daughters Elizabeth Anne, and Jane Margaret, are photographed as babies, and as they grow. Scenic views include the Gisborne region; and Kawau Island, with a large group in Mr McDowell's party, deep-sea fishing from a launch, showing their catch of hapuka A group of women from the Women's War service Auxiliary at Katikati are seen in two images; and a meeting house at Katikati. The second diary contains brief entries describing daily life at Wallingford, raising children, social affairs, weather and visitors, etc. Few entries for years 1865 and 1871. 1858-1859 diary contains 3 loose pages and some torn out of volume Source of title - Supplied title Relationship complexity - Further Hannah Ormond diaries from a different provenance are held at MS-1739-1746 Scottish-born Hannah Richardson emigrated to New Zealand with her mother on board the Evening Star which left Gravesend on 11 Sep 1858 and arrived at Auckland on 21 Dec 1858. They then travelled by schooner to Napier where they joined George Richardson, Hannah's brother, who had emigrated the year before. Hannah married John Ormond, a well-known political figure in the area, on 4 Dec 1860 and settled at Wallingford Station near Waipukurau, Hawkes Bay Quantity: 2 volume(s).
