Description: Transparency slides of Mr E G Williams' (Edmund Gardner Williams') travel in New Zealand in 1959. This sheet of slides includes a view of cows in trial harnesses at the Ruakura Agricultural Research Centre; the Anchor Butter factory at Te Awamutu (Te Awamutu Dairy Factory); the main street in Te Awamutu and the Riverina Hotel; the Waikato River from various angles; the Sand, Shingle, Metal works beside the Waikato River; two views of audience and participants at the Ngaruawahia Regatta; Queen Street in Auckland and views in the area including Auckland Harbour, Rangitoto, Devonport area, Panmure and Mount Wellington, and the crater on Mount Eden. Slides on this sheet are numbered 408-432 with gaps for those removed for lectures on New Zealand. Arrangement: Mr Williams transferred slides (nos. 414, 420, 426-427) showing Main Street in Te Awamutu; looking down the Waikato River with the road bridge; Queen Street, Auckland and view of Rangitoto and Auckland Harbour. These were taken as part of a representative collection on New Zealand for various lectures which he gave when he returned to England. The lecture series are filed in later sequences. Description: Transparency slides of New Zealand, some purchased and some taken by Mr E G Williams' (Edmund Gardner Williams'). Purchased slides (nos. 953-954) were taken by [Neville] Hatwell. Slides include images of the Russell Post office, Otehei Bay with the ferry launch "Kewpie Too", and views of the Bay of Islands from the sea including igneous (basalt) rocks. Purchased views of Kaiteriteri Beach and Nelson Harbour; cars in snow at Porters Pass; view of Auckland from Mt Eden; aerial views of Mc Kinnon Pass, Sutherland Falls and crater on Mt Ngauruhoe; then views of Whanganui and the Whanganui River, Kaikoura town, Dunedin and the Shotover River. Slides on this sheet are numbered 947-971, with nos. 955-960, 962 removed for Mr Williams lecture series. These are filed in a separate sequence. Arrangement: Mr Williams transferred slides (nos. 955-960, 962) to create a representative collection on New Zealand which he used in lecture series on his return to England. Description: Transparency slides of New Zealand, some purchased and some taken by Mr E G Williams' (Edmund Gardner Williams'). Purchased slides (nos. 923, 926-930) were taken by [Neville] Hatwell. Slides include images of Skippers Gorge, pampas grass near Whangarei, Mount Tarawera from Lake Rotomaha, a sunset off the Scilly Isles (showing a "sun pillar"), views of Auckland buildings and parks, the Treaty House at Waitangi, the Stone Store at Kerikeri, Cooper's Beach, and a scene near Whangaroa. The last six views were taken in the Bay of islands, some showing farmland owned by Mr Williams' friends the Woods family. These were taken from the cream launch which visits outlying areas, one view showing passengers on the launch and Russell from the launch. Slides on this sheet are numbered 923-946. (Full sheet of 24 slides with none removed for Mr Williams' representative collection which he used for his lecture series when he returned to England).
