Description: Hydro electric power and irrigation dams, in particular the construction of the Pool Burn Reservoir dam. Some dam sites before construction, specifically a site on the Manuherikia River for the "Manuherikia Falls Dam". There are photographs of "White Creek Fault" and the effects of the Murchison earthquake on roads, bridges and the countryside. Especially covered is the lake formed by an earth slide across the Matakitaki River Likely to be a very interesting collection. Furkert was a leading public servant through the 1920s and 1930s. Description: Album of images collected and partly photographed by Gerald Rainsford Craddock. Images include clipping from newspapers and magazines, and postcards (chiefly of Akaroa, Wellington, Sydney and Perth). The photographs include family photographs, mountaineering trips, scenery in various parts of New Zealand, interior views of the Union Bank of Australia (Wellington Branch) where Gerald Rainsford worked from 1936-1939, and several views of the first Springbok test at Athletic Park in 1937. Description: Published by H H Tombs Ltd. Contains two issues: September 1928, and December 1929. Both are annotated by Hare Hongi (Henry Stowell). The December 1929 issue contains loose material including ephemera, research notes, and a leaf. The ephemera item is a promotional brochure relating to Lake Waikaremoana, and the research notes are a translation of a waiata/curse on p. 94 of the December 1929 issue. Many of the annotations are written in Māori. Title supplied by Library. Quantity: 1 folder(s). Physical Description: Two copies of a serial, one promotional brochure, one page of research notes, and a leaf Provenance: Previously belonged to Henry Stowell (Hare Hongi) as evident by annotations written by him. They became a part of this collection through Stowell's daughter Eileen who married James Cowan.

Description: Scenic views of New Zealand chiefly taken by Government Publicity photographers. North Island views include the Waitomo Caves system, including the "Waitomo Caves Hostel" (circa 1908); "King Edward's Court" and "Bride's Jewels" in the Ruakuri Cave; and an image of glow-worms. The other main area in the North Island is along the Whanganui River, including small ferry boats, the Makere Houseboat, and a Maori in a dugout canoe. There is one view of Lake Waikaremoana showing the Panekiri Bluff (no. 28); and one view of Seatoun, Wellington, taken circa 1910s. South Island views are chiefly in the Southern Alps and glacier area on the West Coast. The other main region is lake Kanieri, with a number of images of a small boat named "Dorothy".
