Description: The index map, Sheet N, of the scheme for the Lower Manawatu area begins at the mouth of the Manawatu River, reaching as far as Ashhurst and the Kiwitea Stream. The scheme for the Oroua River is also included from the junction near Rangiotu to the vicinity of Kiwitea Stream. Notes about stopbanks, boundaries, railways and classes of valuation are referred to in a key. An extensive valuation table, entitled Rate Yield of Zone Districts includes information about twelve disticts, their areas and capital value of classes. The eight sheets, numbered 1a to 8a, are enlargements of Sheet N showing rural properties adjacent to the rivers, which are divided into classes according to their valuation and referred to in a key. Each property is numbered and includes the owner's name and acreage. Notes on each sheet state that the maps were compiled from Valuation Rolls 3/12 to 3/24 and 1399, 1402, 1425, 1428, 1432, 1441-2, 1476, 1478. Includes named streets, State Highways 1, 12, 30 and 97 as well as the Main Trunk Railway Line and deviation near Longburn. Three amended maps on Sheet 9a are of parts of Sheets 1a. 2a. 5a. Manawatu Catchment Board Plan no. 1/80 has been crossed out on all maps and 514 inserted before copying Originals signed by P.G. Evans, Chief Engineer, 7/12/51, 16/12/52, 12/12/54.
