Description: Depicts the lower half of North Island from approximately Hamilton to Gisborne, referred to as Province of North Durham, also the top half of South Island from approximately Greymouth across to Kaikoura, referred to as Province of South Durham. The map is annotated 'The dotted line denotes the boundaries of the provinces' and this line is marked diagonally between Pt. Tebouka kore in the Wellington Region and a point north of Tui Bay in the Taranaki Region. Some bays are named as are points including Kidnappers Pt., and capes including Foulwind, Farewell, Palliser and Egmont. Also named are Queen Charlotte Sound, Cook's Strait, Hawke Bay and the islands D'Urville, Kapiti, Mana and Sugarloaf. Mount Egmont, Ruapehu and Tonga Volcano are marked. Description: Cadastral map of the Whitireia Peninsula from Pikiriri peak. Ruratane, Titai [i.e. Titahi] Bay, Mt. Cooper. Rakatane, Koangaaumu and Kohako creeks are named, as is Rocky Bay, all of which are on the Cook Strait coastline. Blocks are named as Koangaaumu, Tom's Grant, Kahutea No. 1 and 2, Onepotu Claim, and include acreages. An old stake fence is marked and a lagoon. The Porirua Harbour is marked. Description: Depicts the lower half of North Island from approximately the Marokapa River across to Tolaga Bay southwards, and the top half of South Island from Bluff Pt. across to Gore Bay northwards. The area from the Mokau river to Pt. Tehakakare is shaded within a dotted line indicating the New Zealand Company's lands. Some coastal areas within this boundary are marked off as 1st., 4th, 5th., 6th. and a key to these areas is as follows: 1st. Deed - Port Nicholson purchase. 2nd. Deed - Fanpero and his tribes title to all their lands within the bounds coloured yellow. 3rd. Deed - the same as regards the Ngatiawa tribe. 4th. deed - Wanganui. 5th. Deed - Taranaki. 6th. Deed - Ditto [i.e Taranaki]. The 2nd. and 3rd. areas are not marked off on the map. Some bays, points and capes are named including Foulwind, Farewell, Palliser, Castle, and Egmont. Also named are Queen Charlotte Sound, Cook Strait, Hawke Bay and the islands D'Urville, Kapiti, Mana and Sugarloaf. Many rivers are marked, some un-named.
