Description: Album of photographs, some prints, some contacts from 35mm film, taken by Professor John Salmon in Wellington. Most of the images describe his use of different camera lenses and filters. Many of the scenes are taken from Professor Salmon's window at Victoria University of Wellington, showing different moods in different weather patterns. They include early morning, afternoon, and night views, northerly wind and southerly wind cloud patterns, including a southerly storm. He also has a large number of images of Wellington Harbour and wharves, again taken in different lights, showing ships, reflections and buildings. Other sequences show views of the Hutt Valley, Silverstream, and Glenmore Street in Wellington, many taken on misty early mornings. The officer is telling him that the government is erecting barbed wire around the coastline. In the second a topdressing pilot is being told to drop bombs instead of fertiliser in the event of any hostilities. In the third an officer is standing on Mt Victoria in Wellington and telling his men that the old signal gun is to be turned around and pointed over Cook Strait. Description: Depicts the lower half of North Island from approximately Hamilton to Gisborne, referred to as Province of North Durham, also the top half of South Island from approximately Greymouth across to Kaikoura, referred to as Province of South Durham. The map is annotated 'The dotted line denotes the boundaries of the provinces' and this line is marked diagonally between Pt. Tebouka kore in the Wellington Region and a point north of Tui Bay in the Taranaki Region. Some bays are named as are points including Kidnappers Pt., and capes including Foulwind, Farewell, Palliser and Egmont. Also named are Queen Charlotte Sound, Cook's Strait, Hawke Bay and the islands D'Urville, Kapiti, Mana and Sugarloaf. Mount Egmont, Ruapehu and Tonga Volcano are marked.
